The Honorable Sam Brownback, Governor of Kansas

Board Member, Governors

Sam Brownback was sworn in as Governor of Kansas in January 2011. He has served the State of Kansas as Secretary of Agriculture, Congressman, Senator, and now as Governor.  Honoring his pledge to only serve two elected terms in the U.S. Senate, he did not seek reelection in 2010 and returned to Kansas.

He is focused on growing the state’s economy and increasing private sector jobs through improved regulations, controlled spending, and lower tax rates. These efforts have resulted in a $500 million fiscal turnaround, balanced budgets, targeted incentive programs, historic tax reform and the creation of more than 56,000 private sector jobs since taking office.

Brownback and his wife, Mary, have five children, two of whom are adopted. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1978 and the University of Kansas Law School in 1982.
