Teens Get Second Chance in Local Nevada Schools

Jobs for America’s Graduates is a national program, but it’s making a big impact in Washoe County in northern Nevada.

It’s a program designed to boost graduation rates by targeting kids at risk of dropping out of high school, and giving them specialized support.

JFG Student Dorian Hall Signed to FIU After Receiving 35 Scholarship Offers

Dorian Hall, a senior in the Jobs for Florida’s Graduates program and safety, wide receiver on the South Broward High School football team in South Florida, was just offered scholarships to 35 colleges including nine Division I schools. How did he get here? He says, “I continued to work hard on the field and it all paid off.” The sentiment that hard work is repaid with good fortune is something we strive to instill in our JFG students every day and we’re proud to say Hall is a shining example of this belief.

2017 Kenneth M. Smith Scholarship Application

Since 2009, the Kenneth M. Smith Scholarship Fund has awarded 113 scholarships. Eighty-one scholarships were for $1,000 and thirty-two were for $2,000 for a total of $145,000 in scholarships for JAG graduates. Funding for the KMS Scholarship Fund has come from JAG Board members as well as the Western Union Foundation, Lillian Goldman Trust, Strategic Partnerships and Corporate Education Resources, Inc.

JAG-MN Students - Learned from Our Nation's Heroes

Three hundred Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) students had the privilege of hearing from two Medal of Honor recipients: Captain Florent Groberg and Sergeant First Class Melvin Morris. The decorated war veterans talked with students about decision-making and overcoming all odds.
