Adriane Brown is President and COO of Intellectual Ventures. With nearly 30 years of management experience from the factory floor to the boardroom, Ms. Brown has learned firsthand that a company’s success begins with its people. Her leadership expertise and business acumen serve as the cornerstone for building strong, global performance at Intellectual Ventures.
Before joining Intellectual Ventures, Ms. Brown served as President and CEO of Honeywell Transportation Systems. Under her management, this $5 billion business unit experienced profitable growth through disciplined global expansion and innovative new products. Under her leadership, Transportation Systems consistently outperformed the industry through innovation, global reach, and operational excellence. Over the course of 10 years at Honeywell, serving the aerospace and automotive markets in positions of leadership, Ms. Brown earned a reputation for driving business results, strengthening customer relationships, and inspiring and leading talented people to meet business objectives.
During her 19 years at Corning, Ms. Brown filled significant business roles. She began her career as a shift supervisor where she gained hands-on experience in operations. She later moved into sales, customer service, and became VP & General Manager of Corning’s Environmental Products Division.
In 2009, Ms. Brown was named one of Black Enterprise Magazine’s 100 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America. In 2006, she was named one of Fortune Magazine’s Women to Watch and in 2005, Automotive Newsfeatured her in its list of the 100 leading women in the North American automotive industry.
Ms. Brown holds a Doctorate Degree in Humane Letters from Old Dominion University, a Master’s Degree in Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she was a Sloan Fellow, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Health from Old Dominion University.
Ms. Brown currently serves on the board of directors of Jobs for America’s Graduates, the nation’s leading drop-out prevention program and is a member of the Executive Leadership Council. She lives in the Puget Sound area with her husband and daughter. Ms. Brown is a respected public speaker, is recognized for mentoring women and girls from all walks of life, and for developing leaders and emerging talent.
