U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta will deliver remarks to prepare Americans for the jobs of today and tomorrow. Governor of Indiana Eric Holcomb, and U.S. Congressman Don Beyer (D-VA), will deliver remarks addressing the National Workforce Crisis and engaging the current 16-24-year-old generation to help solve the issue at much greater scale. Dr. Dave Clayton of Strada Education Network will present new data from the Strada-Gallup Education Consumer Survey on challenges and opportunities for engaging 18-24-year-olds in today’s workforce, and Dr. Jim Dearing of Michigan State University will share data on essential elements to successfully scale programs.
For the first time in history, there are more jobs than there are workers to fill them. Therefore, this year’s Thought Leader Event will focus on two driving questions as we consider recommendations to address this issue:
1) How do we scale those programs that work so more youth can benefit and gain exposure to work-based learning opportunities that lead to career pathways?
2) Only half of young adults aged 16 to 24 are participating in the job market today. How do we reach the other half to provide them with the skills they need to succeed on the job?
Join us as we consider how to solve this workforce crisis.
