National Secretary, JAG Career Association
Born in Kansas City, Kansas, Alondra Aguilera Luna comes from a close-knit family that includes an older sister and a younger brother. Growing up, Alondra developed a passion for books, political discussions, trying new foods, and listening to music. She adores cherries and strawberries and never misses a chance to re-watch Gilmore Girls every fall.
Alondra graduated second in her class from Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There, she earned 18 college credits while challenging herself with 11 AP and honors courses. Now a freshman at the University of New Mexico, she is double majoring in Biology and Political Science. Driven by her desire to provide exceptional care for children—Alondra aspires to become a pediatric surgeon.
Her journey with JAG New Mexico, an affiliate of Jobs for America’s Graduates, began in her freshman year of high school. Alondra quickly fell in love with the program, which empowered her and provided a supportive community. Over the years, she held several leadership roles, serving as chapter president for three years before running for a national office during her senior year. Today, she serves as the National Secretary for the JAG Career Association for the 2024-2025 term, where she keeps the team informed and ensures meetings run smoothly.
One of Alondra’s proudest accomplishments is inspiring first-generation Latino students. Once, as a hopeless high school student with little faith in her future, she battled depression and doubted she would graduate. However, through the encouragement and guidance of JAG, she learned that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. Her message to others is clear: ¡Si Se Puede!—Yes, you can!
Guided by Theodore Roosevelt’s words, “Believe you can and you’re halfway there,” Alondra advises fellow students to embrace leadership roles, take risks, and always be true to themselves. Her journey is a powerful example of resilience and the impact of self-belief, inspiring others to chase their dreams and create a better future.
