Nashville) – More than 80 seniors now know much more about Tennessee state history. They also now know Governor Bill Lee personally. 5 Jobs for Tennessee Graduates (JTG) programs; Anderson County Career & Technical Center, Centennial High School, Columbia Central High School, Fairview High School and Oneida High School comprised the group. Some students and JTG specialists traveled more than 3-hours to attend JTG Day On The Hill. The late March event began with a visit from Governor Bill Lee on the Capitol steps.
“You’re setting an example. You’re leading the way and you already make me proud and you’ll make a lot of other people proud in your path to success,” said Governor Lee during his 3-minute spirited pep talk.
Before the Governor departed for a busy day on the Hill, JTG President & CEO John Dwyer presented the Governor with a JTG jacket, bringing another one along for First Lady Maria Lee.
“Governor Lee, you are now and honorary member of JTG,” announced Dwyer.
After a quick round of photos with the Governor, the students took a tour of the Capitol, and then enjoyed a box lunch at a nearby park under a brilliantly sunny Middle Tennessee sky. The day in Nashville wrapped up with several visits by the students to the offices of their respective lawmakers.
