Empowering JAG New Jersey’s Students Through Networking

by | Apr 10, 2025 | News, News and Insights

We are thrilled to spotlight a significant milestone achieved by our JAG New Jersey affiliate! They recently hosted their first Legislative Day, marking a crucial step in their engagement and advocacy efforts to advance career development and workplace readiness for young people.

Twelve programs of dedicated JAG students embarked on a focused mission to The State House in Trenton, the seat of both the Senate and Assembly. This was far more than a typical educational trip; it was a strategic initiative designed to empower students and provide real-world experience.

These young leaders were on a mission to clearly articulate the profound value and impact of the JAG program in aiding in career development and workplace readiness. They further honed their professional networking abilities by putting the Greeting. Name. Affiliation. Purpose. (GNAP) framework into practice while sharing their personal journeys. This initiative offered an invaluable opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical application in a professional setting.

The results of their efforts were outstanding. The New Jersey JAG students successfully connected with and directly engaged with 14 different legislators. This significant interaction was made possible through leveraging multiple connections in the JAG NJ network and support from the NJ State Chamber of Commerce, highlighting the pivotal role our JAG NJ stakeholders play in providing students with direct access to crucial professional contacts and networking opportunities. Following their productive meetings, the students were also provided with a tour of the historic State House followed by a presentation of a proclamation from the NJ State Legislature.

We deeply commend JAG students for their composed and passionate representation of the program, demonstrating their commitment to career development and future success. Alberto Romero, NJ State Career Association President, proudly shared his sentiments:

“As President of the JAG New Jersey State Career Association, I am immensely proud of all the leaders who attended. The way they presented and carried themselves was superb. The passion with which they advocated has been a shining example of what a JAG student is. I’m so proud to be a small part of the organization that made it happen.”

This inaugural Legislative Day stands as a powerful testament to the diligent work of JAG New Jersey, the unwavering dedication of their specialists in fostering career development and workplace readiness, and above all, the immense potential within their JAG students.

What an incredible milestone in advancing career development, workplace readiness, and networking for JAG students in New Jersey!
