Inspiring tomorrow’s leaders: National Student Leaders Convene for NSLA.

The Jobs for America’s Graduates Career Association (JAGCA) will host its National Student Leadership Academy (NSLA) from December 5-7, 2024, in Washington, D.C. With the theme “Elevate & Innovate,” the NSLA brings together JAG state officers and local chapter leaders for a transformative leadership experience.

This annual event shapes the next generation of leaders.

During the three-day academy, participants will engage in experiential learning, interactive advocacy training, and ample networking opportunities—all designed to strengthen their leadership skills and deepen their commitment to service. The JAGCA national officers will guide the sessions, offering mentorship and sharing their leadership experiences within their schools and communities.

JAGCA officers play a pivotal role in representing the voices of thousands of students nationwide.

“Our goal at NSLA is to empower student leaders, providing them with the tools they need to elevate their communities and innovate solutions to local challenges,” said Frida Medrano Ibarra, JAGCA president. The officers’ influence reaches far beyond their respective chapters as they inspire and lead their peers in national initiatives, community service, and advocacy projects.

Throughout the convening, students will engage in leadership sessions led by JAGCA officers, covering topics such as cultivating influence, building strong communities, and using advocacy to create change. The event will also feature a student-only “Chaos” event, which cultivates cross-state connections and collaborative learning.

A major highlight of NSLA will be “JAG Day on the Hill” on Friday, December 6.

This event allows students to meet with legislators from their home districts, providing a unique platform to share their personal JAG stories and the program’s impact on their lives. In addition to advocacy, students can tour historic sites such as Arlington National Cemetery, where JAGCA officers will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony. The day concludes with a scenic Twilight Monument Tour, allowing participants to reflect on the importance of leadership and civic engagement.

The academy will conclude with a closing leadership session, etiquette dinner, and a leadership-empowering keynote address by Miss America 2024, Madison Marsh.

NSLA is made possible through the generous support of sponsors Lowe’s, HVA Healthcare, Regions, Pearson, and SHRM. Their commitment to developing the leaders of tomorrow ensures that events like NSLA continue to empower students nationwide.
