As Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) programs commence across the country, the National JAG Career Association (JAGCA) Officers prepare their Program of Work for the 2024-25 school year. With a focus on civic engagement, leadership development, and academic support, the Officers aim to inspire positive change within their communities and empower JAG participants to excel in and out of the classroom.

One of the main initiatives is the National Service Project, which will be active throughout the year and focuses on the challenges unhoused individuals face. By raising awareness and mobilizing JAG students to engage in meaningful volunteer activities, the Officers aim to make a tangible difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness.

In addition to their community service efforts, the Officers prioritize personal and professional student development. They have outlined workshops and initiatives designed to support college and career readiness, such as College Application and FAFSA Workshops. These events will provide students with critical resources to navigate the college admissions process, secure financial aid, and set themselves on a path toward post-secondary success.

The Program of Work also includes engaging activities like “Talk About It Tuesday,” which offers a platform for students to discuss current events and social issues, furthering civic and social awareness within the JAG network. Leadership development is another key focus, with training sessions and conferences, such as the National Career Development Conference (NCDC), offering students opportunities to demonstrate their skills, explore career options, and connect with industry professionals.

As JAG programs resume in classrooms nationwide, the national JAGCA Officers are dedicated to ensuring this year is one of growth, leadership, and community impact for all participants. Through their Program of Work, they are laying the foundation for a successful year that empowers JAG students to make a meaningful difference in their schools, communities, and future careers.
