Carl M. Coleman, Vice President of Social Awareness of the JAG Career Association at Jennings Senior High & College Prep Academy was the proud recipient of the national JAG 2017 Smith Scholarship. This is the first year JAG (Job’s for America’s Graduates) was offered at Jennings Senior High & College Prep Academy in St. Louis, MO. According to Dr. Theresa L. Badgett, JAG Specialist, there were twenty JAG graduates from across the country that were selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship and one JAG alum was selected to receive a $2,000 scholarship. These twenty-one outstanding JAG graduates have achieved the high honor of being a 2017 Smith Scholar.According to JAG National, “2017 proved to be the most challenging year to review the 129 application packets, assign points, then, make the decision as to which applicants moved forward to be among the Top 40 Applicants. Only 20 JAG graduates in the Class of 2017 will be able to use the Smith Scholar designation.”
A workshop will be held at the 2017 National Training Seminar in Las Vegas for Specialists who are interested in supporting their students that apply for the honor of being recognized as a Smith Scholar as well as receiving the $1,000 scholarship. Dr. Theresa L. Badgett, JAG Specialist, has been invited to participate on the panel/workshop of Specialists that have been successful in supporting their students.
